Sections 21, 23 and 26 make employers, and anyone who manages or controls a workplace, responsible for keeping it safe so far as is reasonably practicable. That duty extends to contractors who access your roof. The Australian Standards below are how WorkSafe Victoria measures whether the duty has been met.
Applies wherever there is a risk of a fall of more than 2 metres. Sets the order of controls: work from the ground where possible, then passive protection such as guardrails, then work positioning and fall arrest systems such as anchor points and static lines.
Sets the inspection intervals we work to: permanent anchorages, static lines and rail systems at least every 12 months, and harnesses, lanyards and connectors at least every 6 months. This is the standard behind annual recertification.
Manufacturing and testing requirements for single-point anchors used for harness-based work at height. Single-person anchors are rated to 15 kN. Applies to the fixed roof anchor points on most Victorian school buildings.
